HELP THE HERO'S FUND RAISING EVENT ON WHITEWATER CHARTERS.

Just another day at the office you may say.. No I don't think so.

Not many people let alone anglers can say they have enjoyed the company of sporting legend Shane Williams MBE, Full back and sports commentary expert Sean Holley and Hollywood actor and Stella star Julian Lewis Jones. But Thursday 25th August was a day to notch up on my list of great fishing moments.

Stars of the event.

It all started back in February 2016 at the charity event,  whitewater presentation night for Help the hero's hosted by sharking legend Andrew Alsop where famous skippers, anglers, TV celebs and club sponsors from all over Britain got together to raise thousands for the chosen charity.  One of the auction prizes set up by Andrew and Julian was for three men to fish again Shane, Sean and Julian on the new whitewater charter boat in a shark fish off.

The bidding was a tense one with good bids going in from all over the arena  but sky sports legend Keith Arthur who was the auctioneer soon brought the hammer down to Ian Murphy on £860.

IAN MURPHY

Ian Murphy is a cracking boat angler who fishes out of Penarth on his own private boat. He owns his own company based in Canton  Cardiff called Inspirational Lighting Ltd.

Team Inspirational lighting was from left to right.

IAN MURPHY, RAY CLEAVER, ROB COLE

Team whitewater from left to right

JULIAN LEWIS JONES, SEAN HOLLEY, SHANE WILLIAMS.

And hidden at the back filming and taking pictures all day was the BBC film crew.

Right we were about to set sail when the team captains locked arms for a cheeky little show of strength. The fellas got a good grip fair play.

A total of 17 blue sharks were caught and two lost with amazing banter and alot of good competitive team talks.

But karma payed of the man himself Ian bagging the winning shark of 82.8 lb second Julian with 75lb third myself with a 72lb but fair play everyone had there fair share of screaming reels with shane and Sean and Ray  close behind with 60-70 lb sharks  the BBC have the best pics of course..

The BBC were on board doing a project with shane here's Julian interviewing Shane on camera. It should be out in may next year so stay tuned and listen out for for the programme to be aired I can already see it going to be good from the banter on the boat the celebs were a perfect team with good competitiveness and a great laugh.

ANDREW ALSOP

The man behind it all,  a huge thanks to Andrew yet again an amazing job.
